Lubéron: colours, fragrances and flavours

a film by
Didier PARMENTIER
Grand prix du Festival de Figeac 2005
(30', 2005)

Following Edouard Loubet, the youngest chef distinguished by the Michelin guide, we start on a tour of Lubéron. For him, the hills are a big garden of odours and flavours, in which he finds the sensations which are the source of his cuisine at Moulin de Lourmarin.

On our way, we meet some of his suppliers:
- Gianni and Ingrid, in their "ferme-auberge" of Castellos on the highest part of the hills, raise goats which provide an exceptional cheese.
- Géo, a truffle picker, reveals some of his secrets;
- René Olivier, who grows asparagus, explains how he turns earth into caviar;
- Adrian, a gardener, describes his close relationship with Edouard Loubet, who makes great use of flowers and plants for his recipes.

In the heart of the largest ochre massif in the world, David Chaillier tells all about ochre. These pigments, which were already used for cave paintings, brighten up the façades and the whole landscape.

Progressively, the region takes shape: the cliffs of Buoux, Roussillon and the Provençal Colorado, Syvergues: the end of the world, Bonnieux and Lacoste: two villages hanging from the hill, Lourmarin, where all the flavours of Provence are to be found in your plate.
