Brittany,
land of light

a film by
Didier PARMENTIER
collection: Terres de France

(30', 2005)

Land of legends and magic, the mysterious beauty of Brittany is revealed through the trained eyes of photographer Philippe Plisson. “I want Brittany to come through as it really is. It is never shown under the rain, dishevelled by tempest.” His pictures have gone round the world, but his mind is deeply rooted here.

On the island of Molène (it is less than 1 km long and the village still observes solar time) we follow Robert, the local postman for 20 years, on his daily round and listen to Erwann, the Kastell an Doal barman.

Christelle Guézenguar, a fisherman’s daughter, takes us to Land’s End, the “Pointe du Raz”, famous for its eddies and blasts of wind, for a visit and a few stories.
Huelgoat Forest is the ideal setting for the tales of Jean Marie Le Scraigne and the Celtic music of Dan Ar Braz, who charms his listeners and sets them dancing well beyond his native region. Dan evokes the sources of his creation and his landmark concert: the Celtic heritage.
